1 1/2 quarts water
2 tablespoons black or brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon corn syrup
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 red onion, diced
In a saucepan, combine water, black or brown sugar, salt, oil, corn syrup, paprika, chili powder, parsley, onion and garlic salt. Bring mixture to a boil. Stir just enough to cover mixture and do not boil. Place lid in heat, swirling around.
Bring saucepan to a boil over high heat. Stirring constantly, bring mixture to a boil. Boil for 3 1/2 hours.
