2 1/2 cups apples, cored and sliced
1 cup lard
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/3 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons orange extract
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
2 eggs
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 cup finely chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix apples, lard, sugar, boiling water, and honey. Mix thoroughly. Fill and buttermelt pecans. Place pecans in the baking dish. Place pecans on top of pecan filling, and drizzle with lemon extract. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until pecan filling is bubbly. Cool pie before serving.
I followed the recipe exactly and they were amazing! Not even close.
