French Toast with Orange Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup white sugar

1 (15 ounce) can sliced pineapple, drained

1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate

1 (4 ounce) can sliced orange sherbet

1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

2 cups fresh lemon juice

1 cup lemon-lime flavored Jell-O mix

1/2 cup lemon juice

1/4 cup lemon-lime flavored gelatin

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

1 egg

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 cup chopped pecans

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 10 inch springform pan.

Beat butter, sugar, pineapple and orange juice in small bowl until smooth; set aside. Beat the orange sherbet and orange juice concentrate into pineapple mixture in small bowl, then stir into peach mixture and peach mixture until all ingredients are well blended. In a medium, heavy skillet, melt butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is light brown. Beat in the gelatin and brown sugar and lemon zest, adding gradually. Slowly pour gelatin mixture into peach mixture.

When mixture has been completely incorporated, stir egg and lemon zest into peach mixture, then pour into prepared pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of pie comes out clean. Allow to cool. Melt remaining butter or margarine in small bowl, stirring occasionally until mixture is light brown. Stir in pecans. Cut into 1 inch squares.

I didn't expect so much flavor, but this is pretty darn good. I used yellow split peppercorns, but everything else was pretty good. I'm definitely making these again.

It looked good but the hot powder tasted fattening. Plus I didn't have any nutritional yeast. Anyways worth trying.
