2 cups white sugar
1 (10 ounce) package buttermilk baking mix
3 cups self-rising flour
2 cups white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup beaten egg whites
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Grease and flour an 8x8 inch pan. Sift together all-purpose flour, 2 cups at a time, then gradually stir in sugar, baking mix and cocoa. Make sure to use the full teaspoon to reach the desired consistency. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 41 to 48 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool. Let cool 10 minutes before topping.
Sift in 1 cup of sugar, 4 tablespoons buttermilk and cocoa. Spread prepared frosting over cake and check for doneness.
