Amish Chelsea Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup butter, melted

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup rolled oats

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1 3/4 cups whole milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease cookie sheets.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.

In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and egg. Mix with an electric mixer bowl, using the paddle attachment, until smooth; beat into the creamed mixture. Gradually mix the flour mixture and the melted butter mixture into the egg and flour mixture. Stir the oats into the creamed cream cheese mixture. Fold in the cornstarch and milk by hand. Drop by teaspoons onto the prepared cookie sheets.

Place under the preheated oven rack in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Cookies should be at room temperature. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, depending on the size of the cookies. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
