4 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup milk
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
In a small saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Stir in corn syrup and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover, and let simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and pour into a bowl, stirring constantly. Allow to cool.
In a medium saucepan, heat sugar, corn syrup, milk, white sugar, vanilla extract and flour over medium heat. Allow to heat slowly, stirring constantly, until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a hard, brittle ball. Remove from heat, and stir into brown sugar mixture. Return mixture to a small saucepan, and heat slowly, stirring constantly, until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a hard, brittle ball.
