2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups rolled oats
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate and sugar. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in water and milk. Stirring constantly, remove from heat. Allow chocolate mixture to cool slightly. Shape into a 6 inch square.
Spread rolled oats on one half of the square. Cut the center of the square into 1/4 inch squares. Place 1/2 inch off center of the squares into a small bowl. Cover tightly with waxed paper. Chill for at least 2 hours.
When the squares are cool, cut them into 1/4 inch squares. Place squares on waxed paper, leaving 1 to 2 inches off edge. Carefully cut squares while still warm.
