Melting Butter Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 cup butter, softened

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

1 egg, fresh

1 cup applesauce, drained

1 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons butter, softened

2 eggs, separated

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan. Combine the flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and cinnamon sticks. Set aside.

Take the butter, sugar and brown sugar. Mix these well, then pour into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with sugar, egg and applesauce. Mix well, then pour mixture over the pecans and graham cracker crust.

Bake for 2 hours in the preheated oven. to 3 hours in the 350 degree F (175 degrees C) oven, or until a wooden spoon inserted into the center of the inverted loaf comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.

To make the frosting, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Separate into individual frostings.
