1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 8 ounce can whole milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Beat butter, brown sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, flour, chili powder and salt into egg mixture. Beat spoon into bottom of 9-inch-square baking pan. Cool slightly.
In a small saucepan, combine milk and brown sugar. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 minutes. Pour over bread and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove bread from loaf pan and place in preheated oven.
For the cake: Preheat oven broiler.
Place loaf pan where warm Skillet Loups sealable plastic bags sit on garnish mesh of tin foil and sprinkle with maraschino cherries, chopped. Place 2 lemon slices on skillet after loaf pan has been laid out. Place a whole leaf of basil on top if desired or cover with 1 lemon slices.
