1 (2 to 3 pound) whole chicken, cut into strips
1 (4 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (16 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 392 degrees F (186 degrees C).
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Place chicken strips in a shallow dish or bowl. Mix tomato paste, mushrooms, oil, paprika, crushed red pepper and basil. Pour over chicken; sprinkle with sugar and salt to taste. Cover and bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 1 hour.
