1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/8 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon white sugar
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
1 cup chopped celery
5 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
1/4 cup chopped almonds, divided
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix butter and almond extract. Stir in brown sugar. Mix in almonds. Spread into the bottom of a large baking dish. Sprinkle with white sugar.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Stir apples and almonds into the apple mixture. Return to the oven for about 15 minutes, or until apples are tender. Sprinkle with almond cheese.
Bake for 15 more minutes.
