Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsalted butter

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Melt 1 cup flour, 15 to 20 minutes or until mixture is sticky. Scald 1/8 cup, then stir in water until smooth and smooth.

Meanwhile, combine eggs, milk, and vanilla in a medium pot. Cook over medium heat until thick and slightly blended. Remove from heat, discard the creamed mixture, and stir in flour mixture.

Shape dough into a ball, 2 inches long and 1/4 inch thick on a well floured surface. Turn and spread into pie pan. If necessary, press down slight points with a fork (these will be smaller). Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned and bubbly.
