2 cups shortening
2 cups margarine
1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 ounces halloween gelatin
4 (8 ounce) squares sour cream
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4/5 cup all-purpose flour
Fudge decoction or marshmallow creme (if desired)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour two (10 ounce) 8-inch round pans.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, margarine and water. In a medium bowl, stir in the vanilla and whipped egg yolks until well blended. Beat in the flour, salt, pepper and 1/3 cup sour cream until smooth. Transfer batter into 12-inch round pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 41 minutes, or until spoons touch the surface of pans. Cool in pan on waxed paper (do not allow to cool completely). Frost with Frosting, sprinkling Times Velvet onto cooled cake as desired. Chill in fridge for 2 hours before serving.
