1 (18.25 ounce) package vanilla wafers
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
In a medium saucepan, combine vanilla wafers, chocolate syrup and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Cool slightly.
Remove the cherries and chocolate syrup from the refrigerator. Crush nuts with a small spoon and mix them with cherries and syrup. Gently stir chocolate syrup into the brown sugar mixture. Refrigerate until fully set, about 1 hour. Refrigerate reserved cherries and syrup until serving time.
