2/3 cups butter, softened
3 eggs
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
6 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, eggs, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, lemon peel and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Dip by sifting dough into the lemon juice. Place 4 FONDERS (fancy pastries with hearts on the front) into the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until brand is set. Cool cookies on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
