1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch pan.
In a large bowl, cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in cocoa, milk and egg. Beat in flour, baking soda, baking powder and chocolate chips. Transfer mixture into the prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
