Golden Bacon Recipe

Ingredients

1 pound bacon

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

6 tablespoons sugar

2 whole cloves

1 red onion, sliced

4 leaves lettuce, halved

1/2 cup buttermilk

4 slices Swiss cheese

2 pounds Swiss cheese slices, cut into 1/2 inch layers

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Preheat grill for grill grilling.

Place bacon in a medium skillet. Cook over medium heat until evenly browned (6 minutes). Remove from skillet, strip and crumble with hands, remove from bacon. Spread over lettuce leaves, and spread on top of slices of Swiss cheese.

Bake until lettuce is tender (4 minutes). Remove from heat; drain liquid.

In a large bowl, thoroughly mix cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, cloves, onion, lemon juice and wine. Pour bacon mixture into a 15 x 15 inch dish. Dip red onion chips in bacon grease and place on lettuce leaves.

Brush both sides of red onion dip with water and brush with remaining bacon grease.

Bake uncovered 20 minutes on the lowest setting. Remove foil while baking, and continue cooking 5 minutes on each side until browned.
