2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons hot water
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, hot water and sugar until the mixture is smooth. Beat the hot water into the flour mixture until it forms a ball, about 10 minutes. Cover the loaf and refrigerate for one hour.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Spread half of the flour mixture into the loaf pan. Air oven the remaining mixture on top of the bread. Dust with cornflakes cereal and two teaspoons margarine. Brush the remaining flour mixture with corn syrup.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the bread comes out clean. Cool and cut into squares. Store in airtight containers.
