1 cup butter, softened
1 (18 ounce) can marshmallow creme
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 eggs
1 cup milk
2 (3 ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
1 (1 ounce) square unsweetened chocolate candy sprinkles
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) pans.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, marshmallow creme, sugar, baking soda and eggs until smooth. Beat in the milk and pudding mix (if using). Stir in the eggs and milk mixture. Combine the marshmallow mix, shortening and chocolate pieces, mix well. Pour mixture into greased and floured pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely. Cut into squares.
