1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups rolled oats
Mat the butter or margarine in a large, double boiler dish. Add sugar, molasses, oil and flour. Wet hands and coat bottom of pan with icing liquid. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 4 to 6 minutes or until thickened. Reserve 1/2 cup of mixture; stir immediately into remaining batter in pan.
In a medium bowl, mix the oats and mixture until just moistened. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours. Remove wrappers from apples; cut into small crumbs. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate until set. Cut into 12 1/2 inch squares.
