16 ounces butter, softened
2 cups packed light brown sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 gallon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare cookie sheets by covering with greased kitchen foil.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter or margarine and sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Add the flour mixture one at a time, mixing until just blended. Fold in the oatmeal, 1/2 cup at a time, until no streaks remain. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly toasted. Cool to lumps will harden and the cookies will stick to the table. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
