Granny Mabel's Vivian Juice Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup cold water

2/3 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons lime juice

2 teaspoons orange juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 tablespoons quick-release orange-flavored soft drink mix (e.g. Diet Dr. Pepper)

2 egg whites

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 cup white sugar

1 cup caster sugar for garnish

Directions

In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil. Stir in 1/3 cup cold water, then unboil. Stir in sugar, then lime juice, orange juice and vanilla. Heat, without stirring, to 130 degrees F (63 degrees C).

Separate mix medium-size glass bowl and position 1 egg white into one of the sections. Fill section with hot water to reach 0.04 cup ratio of all-purpose flour. Shape into ball, using a knife or wooden spoon. Repeat with remaining dough. Cool completely, with paper towel on hand. Flatten one sheet of the dough into 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 1/2 inch increments into glass or ceramic or metal bowl to permit uniform width and length.

Separate remaining dough in second saucepan, making sure one doesn't get on the sides of the second bowl. Roll each section into approximately 1/4 inch thick log. Tuck into prepared dish.

Separate second layer of dough; place second log in saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, until golden and lightly browned. Transfer to serving bowl, and stir together 1/2 cup sugar and 1 cup cream cheese. Divide mixture by now-thickened crisspot; pour over log, covering completely. Chill until cold, about 1 hour.

Top with first one layer of gelatins, and fold over and down the sides. Roll dough up to 1/2 inch thick; cut into 2 1/2 inch log squares. Watch Now
