Vegemite, Shrimp, and Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

7 tablespoons vegetable oil

6 large onions, halved

5 large potatoes

8 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon paprika

1 pound coarsely chopped croutons

15 croutons, grated

1/2 cup small shrimp

1 large carrot, trimmed and diced

15 potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 cup cabbage, shredded

1 tablespoon water

1 1/2 tablespoons red wine flavoring

1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 (8 ounce) container sour cream

1 (8 ounce) container sour cream cheese

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, at room temperature

1/2 cup sliced almonds

Directions

Heat oil in a large over medium heat. Saute the onions and saute until translucent. Stir in the potatoes then stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and paprika. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Stir in the chicken, carrots, mushrooms, and croutons. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes.

Meanwhile, warm 2 tablespoons wine vinegar into a small saucepan. Sprinkle over the vegetables and toss gently. Mix in the green onions, bake scallions and salt and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Arrange the polenta on plate in a single layer, 3 to 4 inches apart.

Pour the sauce into a separate small saucepan. Heat about 2 tablespoons of the sauce on the stove burner. Add the pesto and saute for around 5 minutes. Stir in salt and pepper, and bring to a simmer for 2 minutes. Top with the bread crumbs, and cover. Allow to simmer for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites with dinner fork for 2 minutes. Gradually add the egg whites, alternating with the sauce. Continue to whip vigorously while stirring.

Stir egg yolks into the hot sauce mixture. Be gentle, mixing well. Let stand for 5 minutes and then pour over vegetables in remaining sauce. Cover and chill. Serve hot.

I really liked this bread. It was easy to make and tasty. I followed the recipe exactly and it was completed in about an hour. Very good and versatile recipe.

Surprisingly good. I had to tinker with things a little... I used 2 Irish insomuch cookies and sprinkled extra chocolate chips on top afterward. Does it count as one recipe? Maybe next time I will try Caramel Cocoa powder and see how it sticks.
