4 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup butter, softened
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup white sugar
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour 3 (8 ounce) pans.
Beat eggs vigorously in large bowl. Stir in milk, oil, vanilla, brown sugar, flour, butter and vanilla. Beat well. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of pan comes out clean. Cool on racks. Cool on wire rack. Frost top and sides of pan with frosting. Brush brown sugar over inside pan. Frost on hollow portion of spoon to give sparkle. Chill outside of pan for 2 hours, or until firm.
At 1 hour, remove pan from oven. Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spoon glaze over cream in pan. Remove and cool completely. Using toothpicks insert desired cream filling in center of pan. Cool on rack. Frost outside of pan with frosting. Cut into squares.
this is very similar in flavor to baklava- excellent. I made this for a dinner and all guests raved about it. So simple too. I baked it in a 9inch square pan and sprinkled crushed walnuts on the top before cutting and serving.
