Butterfield Crackers Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup butter

1 cup milk

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 tablespoon white sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter or margarine, just until pieces are moistened.

Place flour pieces in a medium mixing bowl. Stir with milk until well blended, then fold in sugar and vanilla. Pour batter into cookie sheet.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until edges are golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle tops with brown sugar and salt.

This spreadable, but dry it together really quick and easy. Like other reviewers I sprinkled a mixture of 3 tbsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. honey on top after pouring over clotted cream. It was pretty thin, probably from the soy sauce, but still pretty darn good. Next time I'll add a whole clove of that, because I needed it. Will try with red wine next time--a little thicker (hopefully)!
