French Lace and Cuckerei Recipe

Ingredients

5 sheets Italian bread sheets

1 cup chopped hazelnuts (optional)

1 cup frozen banana morsels (if desired) (optional)

2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine, divided

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Lightly grease a 2 quart baking dish.

In a large bowl, toss together all of the nuts and bananas. Pour melted butter or margarine over the cacao mixture, sprinkle over the dry ingredients and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when pierced with a fork. Let cool for 2 hours or until the top is browned and golden. Allow to stand at room temperature for 2 minutes before slicing. Serve hot sprinkled and, if desired, Cut into squares. You're welcome!
