1 (16 ounce) can whole hard-boiled egg
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 1/4 cups vegetable oil
4 tablespoons honey
3 cups sliced almonds
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon lemon zest
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place egg and sugar in a medium bowl. Stir egg into egg and sugar mixture and press thoroughly.
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add honey, almonds and vanilla. Stir together, then pour over egg mixture in pan.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
