1 pound ground beef
3 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 (1 ounce) package dry rice cereal, folded
3 cups water
1 tablespoon chicken bouillon granules
3 cups water
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 (16 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained
1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Saute the ground beef and onion for about 5 minutes, until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in the vegetable oil, garlic, cilantro and 1 package of dry rice cereal.
Add water and chicken bouillon granules to skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Stir in rice cereal and tomato sauce. Cover skillet and simmer for 2 minutes. Stir in garbanzo beans, tomato sauce, oregano, salt, pepper and water. Simmer 30 minutes, or until rice is tender.
