Breadcrumbs Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 cup brown sugar

1 onion, diced

2 eggs

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups bread flour

3/4 cup wheat flour

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon margarine

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 10x15 inch loaf pans.

In a large bowl, mix the oil, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, onion, eggs, salt, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and flour. Mix until well blended.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut dough into 1 inch strips with cookie cutters. Place on prepared loaf pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.

Meanwhile, prepare the bread by placing one loaf on a baking sheet, place 1/4 cup of the bread in the center of the loaf, and spread with 1/2 cup of the butter. Spoon bread into loaf, cover with foil and allow to cool. Repeat layering with remaining bread.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove loaf from pans. Cool loaf completely and store in a glass dish or bowl.
