4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, chopped
2 2/3 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups cornstarch
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans
5 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup puff pastry tops
4 tablespoons butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10x15 inch pan. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pecans; set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar, and water; set aside. In a medium bowl, carefully stir together the batter with the chocolate and sugar until evenly distributed. Pour half of than mixture into the prepared pan.
With a large glass or metal mixer on low speed, stir in the pecans and remaining 1/3 cup butter or margarine. Beat just until blended. Pour into prepared pan. spread butter-filled second layer over chocolate layer. Spread remaining pecans over top layer.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool 20 minutes before serving. Watch Now
