1 (18.25 ounce) package strawberry cake mix
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 (8 ounce) can lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round pans.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, milk, lemon-lime soda and cream cheese. Mix well to form a dough. Place on prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Let cool completely before removing from pans.
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and chopped walnuts. Mix well. Stir in nearly cooled cake. Remove from oven.
In a small bowl, mix lemon-lime soda, lemon-lime soda mix, lemon-lime soda mix, lemon-lime soda mix, lemon-lime soda mix and lemon-lime soda mix. Spoon lemon-lime soda mixture into prepared pan.
To make lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage: In a large bowl, beat cream cheese in medium bowl until fluffy. Mix in sugar and half of lemon-lime soda mixture. Beat cream cheese mixture until stiff. Stir in lemon-lime soda mixture. Beat cream cheese mixture into lemon-lime soda mixture; mix until smooth. Spread over cake. Garnish with lemon-lime soda mixture.
