1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, pressed
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
3 pounds beef brisket
4 stalks celery, chopped
1/4 cup (11.5 ounce) cans tomato paste
2 tablespoons white sugar
In a medium skillet over medium heat, heat oil and onion, garlic and onion and saute for 5 minutes.
Stir in flour and ketchup and stir-fry 2 minutes, until thoroughly blended. Mix in salt, sugar and chili powder. Microwave uncovered for 2 minutes. Cover skillet and cook for 15 minutes.
Dredge the beef in flour and ketchup mixture and place in a shallow dish.
Place celery or tomato paste on the beef and turn to coat. Place the celery mixture over the beef, turning to coat all sides.
Toss meat with tomato paste mixture. Return meat to pan. Heat for 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat and place on a serving platter.
