Chocolate Apple Cinnamon Raisin Bread Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup honey

3/4 cup apple juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup full-fat cream cheese, softened

3 eggs

1 cup confectioners' sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups bread flour

3/4 cup chopped apples

1/2 cup raisins

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, mix together honey and apple juice. Stir in the salt and flour. Stir in the baking powder, browning the bottom of the bowl. In a separate bowl, stir together 2 cups apple juice and 1/2 cup flour. Stir in the melted butter, cream cheese and eggs.

In a separate bowl, cream together the confectioners' sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of the cinnamon and 1/2 cup of flour. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until combined. Stir in the remaining flour and baking powder; mix just until combined. Stir in the butter, vanilla and raisins. Divide the dough in half, wrap each in a plastic bag and roll into logs about 1/8 inch thick. Cut each log into thirds equal parts, wrapping the two sides of each piece halfway. Place two pieces of dough on each log and roll logs around the cookies to form apples.

Arrange the apples on baking sheets in a single layer. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with raisins. Bake for 18 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean. While the apples are still warm, dust them lightly with confectioners' sugar. Cool slightly on the baking sheet before removing from the baking sheet.
