1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 (2 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) can Italian-style dried oregano
4 teaspoons dried basil
8 slices bacon, sliced
1 cup hand-rolled Italian bread, sliced
Pound the beef with a flat surface.
In a large skillet, saute the onion and garlic in Italian seasoning until golden, about 5 minutes. Mix tomato sauce and Italian-style dried oregano in a small bowl, and add seasoning to tomato sauce. Mix in basil.
Stir heavily into the beef mixture. Stir in bacon, bread slices, oregano, basil, and sliced bacon. Let stand about 5 minutes to allow flavors to blend. Serve hot or cold.
