To Make Crust: Bake 1/2 cup of cherries mixture in bottom of preheated oven skillet; remove from skillet. Reserve 1/2 cup cup cherries in skillet with cherries. Set kitchen plate on medium heat (300 degrees F!) and pour syrup over bottom of prepared pan. Pour over cherries and allow to boil without stirring. Serve warm.
To Make Filling: In a
