1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons milk
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch square pan. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate chips, 1/2 cup of sugar, buttermilk, white sugar, and milk. Stir until smooth. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the vanilla until crumbly. Pour the batter into prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool. Invert the cake onto a light baking sheet. Use a toothpick to poke holes in the cake, then carefully pour the cooled concoction in.
