2 pounds ground beef
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup water
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, cream of mushroom soup and cinnamon, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring water to a boil in a large pot. Stir in nutmeg, water and nutmeg. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Stir in meatballs and cook until all meat is cooked and mixture is thickened. Serve warm with sauce.
changes were only necessary because my husband didn't like spicy food or didn't like tomatoes (or neither did I!) and I didn't have tomatillos (OMG! I feel so darn good without!) I will make this again!
Love this recipe, but some directions are missing (according to this same recipe on the Cheesy Crab recipe list)! Pre-cook the stuffing mixture in the oven as it boils. Once cool, drain the excess water and use for topping. Follow the directions as shown and it will be great.
