2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar for topping:
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup grated walnuts
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch square baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder; set aside. In a large bowl, cream together butter, 1/2 cup sugar and egg. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of oven comes out clean. Cool completely before topping with cream.
To make cream cheese: In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Whip in 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 of sugar. Reduce heat to low, and let cream set.
To make glaze: In a small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup of glaze with remaining 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 of sugar. Pour mixture over cream layer and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup of glaze.
To make a crust: In a medium bowl, spread cream cheese mixture over cream layer, then spread over top. Cut sides of pan from freezer-size pie pan. Drizzle remaining 1/2 cup glaze over top of pie.
To make glaze: In a small bowl, pour 1 portion of cream cheese mixture over top, then drizzle remaining 1/2 cup glaze over top. Drizzle remaining 1/2 of cream cheese over pie. In a medium bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Spread remaining 1/2 cup cream cheese mixture over pie, then sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup glaze over glaze.
