2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter, melted

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup flaked coconut

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt and shortening. Stir in the milk, egg, and 1/2 cup of sugar. Stir in the vanilla and melted butter. Mix until well blended. Fold in the rolled oats, chocolate chips, and coconut. Drop shaped cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
