5 tablespoons vegetable oil
5 slices bacon
1 medium head cabbage, shredded
1 medium onion, shredded
1 medium carrot, crushed
2 balls curing mix
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook pork, bacon, cabbage and onion in oil 1 to 2 minutes, or until well browned. Remove pork from skillet; drain fat and set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, heat the curing mix in a large stockpot over medium heat. Add pork and vegetables, reduce heat to low to just so, and continue cooking 2 minutes. Pour over pork. Return pork to pan with the curing mix. Drizzle tomato mixture over pork.
Bring oil, cabbage, onions and carrots to a slow boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender, 10 to 12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
