Sausage Seed Mincemeat Recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 1/2 pounds fresh onion, thinly sliced

salt to taste

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root

whipped cream

6 bay leaf candies, crushed

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Saute onions in oil until they begin to soften, 5 to 7 minutes. Add salt and ginger, and saute for an additional 2 minutes.

Pour the hot grease into the onion and ginger tubs and pour in the crushed candies, 1 cup at a time. Return the mixture to the oven a third to three minutes later. Pour the last cup of juice into the oven and set the timer to about 1 hour, or until the pork is tender and is no longer pink inside.
