2 cups water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
2 cups butter
1/4 cup brown sugar, softened
1 egg, beaten
6 cups shredded Cansam cereal
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup cooked and mashed tomatoes
1/3 cup canned tomato paste (see package for 3/4 cup)
In a 2-quart saucepan over high heat, combine water, rice, butter and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reducing heat to medium so as not to boil; reduce heat to 100 and stir. Continue to stir until all rice and butter has melted and all liquid is absorbed. Simmer 10 minutes, or until all liquid is absorbed. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring constantly, until all liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat, whisk yogurt in 1 tablespoon melted butter and sugar-½ cup of milk and juice. Bring to a boil, then remove lid. Stir in tomatoes, fresh tomato juice, and paste. Heat until sauce is thick and aromatic.
