HAPPY WISHING CHRISTMAS! HERSHEY'S Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/3 cup light brown sugar

5 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup white sugar for decoration

1 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Make shortening: In a medium saucepan, mix shortening and oil. Stirring constantly, allow the shortening to melt.

Place brown sugar in a large bowl. Mix flour to make a stiff dough. On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8 inch in thickness. Cut into desired shapes, about 6 inches across. Place cookies 1 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes in the preheated oven, or until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into desired shapes.

I made these cookies when i was 14 months pregnant with my third child and didn't stop until i got them done. They were a total mess, i regret to say, but i didn't care one i damn bit to eat them. My husband doesn't like cookies that are too hard and doesn't want anything to do with them anyway. I took them to an early Christmas party and didn't have time to type up the recipe i posted online, so i'd recommend you don't even bother with turning the dough, it'll dry up anyway and all you'd need to do is reduce the heat a bit so the cookies bake evenly. You'd still wind up with some un- used cookies on the bottom, perhaps you could turn down the oven so the cookies cool completely before storing? Until next time...
