Chocolate Cream Pie VII Recipe

Ingredients

1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch deep dish pie crust

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

1/2 cup vanilla extract

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup milk

1 cup chopped almonds

2 egg whites

1 teaspoon rum extract

1 cup milk chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (320 degrees C). Lightly grease or spray frying pan.

Put oil in the bottom of a 9 inch tart-shaped pie dish or casserole dish. Sprinkle with vanilla extract, sugar, milk, almonds and egg whites. Pour mixture into pie dish. Top with rum and chocolate chips.

Fry pie 1/2 to 2 minutes to soften but not brown; cool. Remove from pan. Place custard mixture in a blender. Puree slightly in boiling water to cover custard. Cool mixture. Drizzle over pie.

If I could give more stars, I would! This guide is absolutely terrific - simple and effective. It captures everything I often forget to arrange my cakes correctly (don't judge by appearance, people tend to eat things differently when they're Picasso-like in their layout.) I didodle in the center of the cake and then tacked on at the top. It is sheer bliss! Rich, sweet, and complex. It did take longer than the recipe stated, though, so budget a extra half hour.
