Florentine Sausage Recipe


1/2 cup olive oil

2 cups Italian-style processed cheese sauce

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 pound fresh sausage, sliced into 1/2 inch strips

3 cups shredded Swiss cheese

1 cup chopped fresh parsley

1 onion, sliced into 1/2 inch slices

1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms

1/2 cup chopped fresh thyme

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (16 ounce) can tomato paste

1/2 cup milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 dash dried basil


In large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, cheese sauce, eggs, sausage, Swiss cheese, parsley, onion, mushrooms, thyme, garlic, tomato paste, milk, salt, oregano, basil and tomato paste mixture. Mix thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Sprinkle mixture with tomato paste mixture and sprinkle liberally with salt, oregano and basil. Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 25 minutes. Cool, cover with foil and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
