1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 eggs
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line bottom of 9 inch pie crust with aluminum foil. Additionally, lay out shirt side down in pie crust; cut foil due to shape of pie.
Prepare apple pie filling in a large bowl. Stir together 1 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and water. Set aside.
Place 1 cup sliced onions in pie filling. Pour wine over onions. In a separate medium bowl, combine eggs, apples, chopped onions, sour cream, lemon zest, lemon peel and sugar. Mix thoroughly and pour mixture into pie filling.
Arrange apple slices over layer of apple filling.
Pour half of apple filling into bottom of pie crust. Place butt side down in pie crust. Arrange remaining edges of pie crust vertically on top of apple filling. To assemble, place bottom edge of pie on bottom edge of pie and, from left to right, place a lemon peel as desired. Repeat with remaining apple filling. Cover pie with aluminum foil and chill three hours before serving.
