1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
5 tablespoons butter, softened
2 rims of frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
In a small bowl, blend the liquid smoke and butter until smooth. Add the flour and sugar slowly, mixing just until. Add the milk, lemon juice and lemon zest. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch round pan.
Prepare the frosting by blending the milk mixture with the lemon juice and lemon zest. Beat into the milk frosting. Spread over the entire pie and top with whipped topping.
