Chocolate Muted Maize and Herb Pie Recipe

Ingredients

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

1 cup white sugar

1 and 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/4 cup butter, softened

1 cup condensed milk

1/2 cup dried plus green beans

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch prepared pie pan.

Sift together the flour, oil and baking powder; set aside. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar and flour; set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1 cup of sugar until smooth. Beat in the milk and add the grated spicy root of a cayenne pepper; continue to beat until well blended. Stir in the nutmeg, salt and nutmeg. Drop half of the mixture (the custard) into the shallow baking dish. Pour the rest into the bottom of the pie pan. Cover the rest of the mixture with the beans.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the pie comes out clean. Let cool before slicing.

Just made this for my birthday. Everyone was huge fans of the recipe and it was really easy to make. Perfect amount of spice, not too sweet and not too cardamom. I couldn't have asked for better preparation.

This is really good. To those who question the use of pecans: "yes, they are sweet" but "wonderful there are no denying their savory character" If you like wet sh*t, then give this a try:)
