1 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups milk
2 eggs
1 dash vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped cherry
2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch cake pans. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, 1 cup flour, milk and eggs. Beat until smooth. Stir in cherries, vanilla extract and chopped cherry. Mix thoroughly and pour into prepared pans.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then whisk in confectioners' sugar and salt.
To make the frosting: In a large jar, whip
