Cheese Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

12 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 onions, finely chopped

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped

4 ounces crumbled bacon

1/4 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced

3 tablespoons dried oregano

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano

1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley

6 slices bacon

Directions

Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Saute butter or margarine until slightly browned. Add onions, beef, green pepper, bacon, mushrooms, oregano and garlic to skillet; saute for about 5 minutes, stirring, or until the beef is browned and onion is tender.

While the beef mixture is cooking, brown the sausage in a medium skillet over medium heat. Drain all of the grease from the skillet.

Add the mushrooms to the skillet with the browned bits of beef. Saute over medium heat until tender. Stir the oregano and garlic into the sausage.

Return the tomato mixture to the skillet with the beef mixture. Stir the oregano and parsley into the buttery bottom of the casserole dish. Layer with the bacon, then sprinkle with oregano and parsley and top with the mushrooms before serving.
